Who Am I?

Danny M. Vaughn, Ph.D., CMS

Earth Wanderer

Danny M. Vaughn is a retired tenured Professor of Geosciences with over 40 years professional experience in higher education. He is a National Board Certified Mapping Scientist registered through the American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (Certified since 1996). He has developed and edited on-line curriculum focusing on project-based, experiential learning strategies in the Earth and environmental sciences. His career has focused on the study of Earth surface processes including; Geomorphology, Physical Geography, Geology, Meteorology, Geographic Information Systems, Remote Sensing, and field techniques in the Earth sciences.

 

Dr. Vaughn is particularly interested in sharing his knowledge as a professional educator in higher education with students beginning their college experience, or anyone having a curiosity to learn through an interactive blog. He has also posted his career instructional material including course notes, Power point slides, published research, and other essays dealing with education and learning. Material includes his professional experience as a curriculum writer, program director, and former (retired) director of two academic programs: Geomatics: Applied Mapping Sciences, and Geospatial Analysis.

 

The photography showcased on this site is a reflection of his intimate love and appreciation for the natural environment. He has published several additional photography books in paper, hard cover,  and digital format.
